Starting an international Theatre Movement in Utrecht
Are you interested in acting, storytelling, and working creatively with others? Whether you have experience or are just curious, this 6-week course is the perfect introduction to the world of theatre—especially for international high school students
Why this course?
We’ve noticed that while many international schools offer activities, there are very few English-language theatre opportunities outside the school environment. This course offers a safe, inspiring space to explore theatre in English and is the first step toward a full-year programme launching in September 2025
What will you explore?
Throughout these five weeks, you will: 🔹 Learn the basics of acting techniques – presence, movement, and expression
🔹 Work with scripts – explore how to interpret and perform a text
🔹 Train your voice – develop clarity, projection, and confidence
🔹 Collaborate with others – build trust and teamwork through creative exercises
🔹 Have fun – play, create, and challenge yourself in a supportive environment
Final Open Lesson
In the final session, we’ll host an open lesson for family and friends. You’ll present short scenes developed during the course and get a feel for what a longer programme might offer.
About the teacher – Jasper de Bruijn
Jasper teaches acting in both the Netherlands and the UK, including in London where he directs theatre productions and performs as a poet. In the Netherlands, he has taught for Jeugdtheaterschool Utrecht and works with various professional training programmes. He has also collaborated with International School Hilversum and understands the IB context well.
Who can join?
This course is designed for students aged 12–17 who are comfortable communicating in English.
